Graves Gallery

Located at the top of the city's Central Library, The Graves Gallery is a true gem of a gallery. It's named after the local philanthropist J.G Graves, it houses an impeccable collection of European paintings and sculptures. 

It features a number of contemporary exhibitions that are without complaints, a perfectly curated one. 

It was dedicated to the "service of knowledge and art" and built in 1934. 

Famous names on show at the Graves Gallery include Turner and Sisley, while more recent artists include Bridget Riley, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Marc Quinn. Local artists include George Fullard, Derrick Greaves and Stanley Royle.
